Craftsy's June BOM & Graduation Weekend

Craftsy's June Block of the Month

This month's blocks are from the nine block family. Blocks are Octagon Block and Greek Cross Block.I have made my fair share of nine block quilts, one of my favorite patterns that is simple but yet has many various designs that create a total new look for a quilt.

 Weekend with the Family

Tyler
How quickly they grow up! Tyler is my oldest grandson.

Tyler with his dad, my son and me on graduation day.

Tyler graduated with a 4.25% grade average from Wake Forest-Rolesville High School.
I am so proud of him.

While in town for Tyler's graduation I went along to watch Caleb at baseball practice.
Caleb is on a college showcase traveling team. He is an outfielder.

This is only one dresser top filled with Caleb's and his teams' baseball trophies.

And here is Parker my youngest grandson. Oh my as I am writing this I am reminded that I need to go get him a birthday card. He will be 13 this upcoming Saturday.  In the picture below his dad allowed him to steer the boat while cruising on Falls Lake.

Mindy was giving Parker instructions on how to get up on the wake board. Parker never did get there. More practice. Mindy didn't easily give up, but Parker got to the place where he was tired.

My Week in Pictures

Jan's FMQ Challenge with Embellishments

January's Free Motion Quilting 2012 Challenge with embellishments - folded star with beads and prairie points with decorative stitching and one that is lined.

An evening with my family! It was great fun and wonderful food last Friday.
Beginning on the left side:
  • Tyler - oldest grandson
  • Parker - youngest grandson
  • David - youngest son
  • Caleb - middle grandson
  • Mindy - Ty's girlfriend
  • Ty - my oldest son
  • Joanie (me)
I traveled to Raleigh to spend a few days with my family. Thursday David and I ate dinner at the same restaurant above where we shared Chicken Parmesan and Sea Bisque at Bruno's Italian Steakhouse and Seafood. On the house was an order of shrimp and grits and a chocolate martini.

Friday David and I shopped and picked up a few items. I purchased buttons and thread so I could repair his slacks. Friday evening was a planned get together with the family at Bruno's. Appetizers - Classic Oysters Rockefeller, Black/White Sesame Crusted Tuna, Shrimp Scampi and Clams Casino. Dinner - Kobe Steak, which is not on the menu, with mashed potatoes and green beans. Dessert - Chocolate Martini. My sons threw out the red carpet for my visit. Wow!

David and Caleb
Saturday, David, Mindy and I drove to Wilson, NC to visit Nowell's Antiques and Furniture Store. Lunch was at Chilis. We dropped Mindy off at the mall and David and I returned each taking a nap to regroup for an evening at Ty's. Below are pictures playing a competitive game of Catch Phrase.

David's mountain high of slacks needing repaired.
I did get them finished in between all the family and shopping events.

David's table became my workspace while working on his slacks.

Before leaving for my long weekend with my family my sewing studio turned into an office/mail room. I mad dashed to complete the mailing before deadline.

I added more pictures to pinterest, well let's say a ton more pictures.
This is getting addictive! Check out my pictures!
